Auburn MA: Still a small town with lots to do

Auburn MAFor anyone from the Central Massachusetts area, Auburn MA is probably best known as the location of Dr. Robert Goddards’s first liquid propelled rocket being fired in 1926. Dr. Goddard is considered the father modern rocketry and his rockets were the forerunner of today’s space flights. Other notable attractions in Auburn include the Auburn Mall, the Horgan Skating Arena and Pakachoag Hill with its golf course and music school.

Since it’s incorporation as a town in 1778 and its subsequent name change to Auburn in 1837, Auburn has experienced rapid growth in industrial and business development, though its population has only gained a few thousand in number since the 1970’s, helping Auburn to try and maintain a somewhat small town feel.

The easy access off I290, I90, I395, Routes 12 and 20 make Auburn a popular destination for shopping, working and living.

Insider Tip: Word on the street says the new Auburn Mall movie theater will be located at the Macy’s Home store at the Auburn Mall.
